Hello from the Himalayas!
Friends, I hope you’re doing well. Amid the news barrage of covid, climate, crypto, china, and inflation — I hope you made it through, stronger and better. After a gap of 7 months, I am resuming writing again — starting with a year-in-review update.
Web3 adventures
Web3 community — I have been working with RARA Social to design the community incentives.
extrinsic ones as in tokenomics & social badges
instrinsic ones as in sense of belonging in a tight-knit community
P.S. RARA Social is a web3 startup, working on decentralized curation of NFTs. In short, think token rewards and on-chain reputation for early NFT fans, curators (and of course, artists). Productized with a recurring NFT race and eventually baked into a decentralized-curation protocol.
Tried Quadratic Funding and zero-knowledge rollups (Ethereum 2.0). I contributed to the gitcoin grants crowdfunding campaign for a longevity research collective. Screenshots in tweets below.
zk-rollups : I can do batch transactions for much cheaper without sacrificing the decentralization and security of Ethereum.
quadratic funding: my $100 contribution to three projects turned into $3400 for those projects via a matching pool.
Published my first post on Mirror — vinaydebrou.eth (my 2019 essay on Network of Free-Agent Clusters). I might publish there more often to share my web3 learnings.
Personal health-battle
In October, I was diagnosed with abdominal tuberculosis (treatment ongoing). Dealing with outdated and inefficient healthcare infrastructure in India, my desire to see the consumer-grade personal health-tech accelerate grew. After a bit of research, I identified three areas where we need to push for wider adoption for this to work.
Quantified self + AI (to make-sense of the data) — with devices/wearables like Levels, Veri, and Oura and of course, Apple Watch.
Marketplaces of best healthcare professionals for remote consulting
Open-source drug research & development (New Science, Four Thieves Vinegar)
Exciting projects I am am keeping an eye on —

VitaDAO — decentralized longevity research
The Graph Protocol — indexing web3
Creator Cabins — network of nomad-enclaves in making
Replit — gamechanger for coding beginners — free, in-browser IDE
Crypto Cities — early experiments in blockchain-ifying cities.
bluesky — Jack Dorsey’s push towards a decentralized social-network protocol
New Science — seeding new institutes of life-sciences research
2022 Aspirations

Buy coffee with bitcoin (in El Salvador?)
Fund an independent longevity-research lab (via VitaDAO?)
Relocate to next homebase — Lisbon/Porto (portugal)
Music
According to Spotify 2021 Wrapped, I’m into French Indiepop and my audio aura is —ecstatic and chill. Well, I don’t disagree with data :)
Keeping it vibey, here’s my music recommendation for you —
That’s it folks, for now. Enjoy your Holiday season!
Until next time,
Vinay
